Fortune released its list of the world's 500 largest corporations on Monday, July 8th, which includes Chairman Zhiping Song’s two state-owned companies--China National Building Material Group Corporation and China National Pharmaceutical Group. China National Building Material Group Corporation (CNBM) increased to 319 from last year’s 365 by revenue, with the sales of 34.46 billions dollars last year. It is the third time for CNBM to be listed on Fortune 500, and it ranks 2nd among worldwide building material companies.
In accordance with Chairman Song’s development strategy and the concept of innovation, CNBM adheres to the path of development of capital operation, a joint reorganization, management integration and integrated innovation, creatively explores and implements the "stated owned marketing", "integration and optimization", "grid control", "instructor system" and a series of new ideas and measures. This strategy not only leads to CNBM’s development, but solves the problems of excess capacity, contributes to company’s sustainable development, helps with privately operated company’s growth. CNBM is claimed to be a good example in transforming economic growth patterns and reforming among stated-owned companies by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC.
A decade saw the CNBM’s growth from an endangered company with the revenue of 2 billion yuan to the only one in Fortune 500 among national building material company with the revenue of over 200 billion yuan. Against the severe and complicated international economic situation in 2012, CNBM achieved sales of 217.4 billion yuan, ranking 2nd in industry worldwide yet it is first by profit of 8.57 billion yuan. Cement and chemical fiber productivities stay the world’s largest; gypsum board and commercial concrete productivities jump to first worldwide; wind blade, carbon fiber and refractory material productivities jump to first nationwide.
Chairman Zhiping Song’s outstanding leadership and business achievement bring him many awards, including Yuan Baohua Gold Award of Enterprise Management, CCTV 2012 Economic Person of the Year, etc. It is his honor to have both of two companies in Fortune 500, said Zhiping Song, and the growing number of Chinese companies on the list is also a good demonstration of China’s excellent companies, outstanding entrepreneur and management. He believes, Chinese companies have been accumulating experience since reform and open policy which has Chinese characteristics and international standards; it is only nationally, but worldwidely instructive.
